Being defiant towards conformity is only one of our principles at Defying Mainstream. With spreading the encouragement of rebelling worldwide, in a substantial way, we give our readers a publication that only believes in the impossible. Remember, a wise wall once stated: “In a society that has abolished all adventure, the only adventure left is to abolish that society.”

We have a different way to do the reporting process, and thus, some may call it “avant garde”. We research what’s next, not necessarily what’s now. Starting off at the end of last year as a blog that quickly gained readers, it is as addictive as bittersweet loving. The ‘movement’ DMS encourages is one that promotes originality and individuality by various features. It is something of an experiment, which tests the boundaries of New Media with our contributors. Here we support upcoming independent artists, and here we also praise those who have gone mainstream, but strive to always be deviant.

As a blog, and now an E-Zine, Defying Mainstream does not want to be classified as another blogger or magazine. Editor-in-Chief, Bacall Michaels, claims: “We already have enough street-style websites and the related, but what we do not have are ones that promote originality, only ones that express it. With Defying Mainstream, I hope to do so and inspire.”

Defying Mainstream is a project that is forever evolving, and with that, it cannot ever be defined in utter detail. In each issue of The Defiant, we plan to deliver a raw message that can be interpreted in whichever way fits the contributor and then freely devoured by each reader. As a result, every month we create an unfeigned benefaction to the world.
